BC Cattlemen’s Association annually recognizes individual or local groups of cattle producers for their stewardship efforts that have enhanced the environment through their management practices.
Recipients of the Ranch Sustainability Award will received a commemorative gate sign, a trip for two to the BCCA Annual General Meeting & Convention, a trip for two to attend the Canadian Cattlemen's Association meeting, where they will be compete for the national Environmental Stewardship Award among recipients from the other provinces.
The Ranch Sustainability Award is supported by the generous sponsorship from the Beef Cattle Industry Development Fund, BMO Bank of Montreal, MNP and the BC Wildlife Federation.
To recognize ranches that are environmentally sustainable - healthy cattle that are well cared-for, healthy lands, wildlife and a ranching family to carry forward into the future.
In May 2016, BCCA elected to change the Environmental Stewardship Award to the"RANCH SUSTAINABILITY AWARD" to encompass the evolving focus of the beef industry on overall sustainability. Evaluation of the award will include consideration of:

Each nominee will receive an in-person visit to learn about the ranch practices and philosophy.
A diverse panel of judges with representatives from the cattle industry, conservation organizations, and an agrologist will review the ranch evaluations and will select a recipient. recipients are announced at the BCCA Annual General Meeting & Convention each year.
