The BC Cattlemen's Association is pleased to deliver the following awards for outstanding achievement:
Environmental Stewardship Award The award recognizes a ranching family for their outstanding commitment to environmental stewardship. Everyone that is nominated for the award has been nominated by their fellow cattle producers. Nomination form & criteria. Research Grants Two $2,000 grants are awarded annually to applicants whose research benefits the beef cattle industry. This grant is sponsored in the memory of Brigadier General WN Bostock. Applications & criteria. Education Bursaries Several $1,000 bursaries are awarded annually to applicants pursuing post-secondary education in agriculture. Applications & criteria. Scholarships Two Gung Loy Jim Scholarships ($2,000) are awarded annually by the Jim Family of Barriere,BC to assist worthy students from British Columbia, especially those from rural areas where cattle are raised, to further his/her education in whichever field they desire. Application & criteria. Rustling & Vandalism Reward The BCCA office offers a reward of upto $2000 for information that leads to a conviction for theft &/or killing of cattle, and damage to property or equipment. The reward is part of our Vandalert crime prevention program. The program encourages rural communities to be alert and report information to the RCMP or Crime Stoppers that may help solve rural crimes. The process for claiming a reward: 1) the person claiming the reward must write a letter outlining his/her involvement in teh case. This may be done anonymously through the RCMP. 2) BCCA office will seek supporting information from the RCMP & local cattlemen's association. 3) A committee of ranchers will review the information and decide on the amount, if any, to reward. 4) BCCA issues a press release on the granting of the reward. The person receiving the reward will have their name withheld from the media.
